Studying at UK university is a dream come true for thousands of students. In order to live this dream you should consider attending boarding school in the United Kingdom. UK universities are fond of UK education system and therefore value the applications coming from the system they created.
There are almost 500 boarding schools across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Prestige Education agency is a proud member of BBSN (British Boarding Schools Network). We attend this conference twice a year where we meet school representatives in person. We have visited dozens of boarding school across United Kingdom and we know them well.
Program
The high school program consists of 2 + 2 program. First two years of high school are equivalent to grades 10 and 11 in the UK system and they are called GCSE program. Years 12 and 13 and two final grades of high school and are called A-level program. Exceptionally there are 1 year GCSE and A level programs. They last 3 terms, each.
It is not recommended to attend these 1 year programs as they are complex, difficult and the two year material content is covered in one year. Each student must take adequate tests in order to be considered for the one year programs.
For students struggling with English or grades, there are Pre GCSE and Pre A level programs. These programs help students prepare better for the actual GCSE and A level program.
Schools in the UK are dominantly based on UK education system. However, there are schools offering either IB or US system. We help each individual find the right school but also adequate education system.
Most schools in the UK are co-educational, meaning that both genders – girls and boys attend the school. UK is well known for same gender schools. Therefore we have many all girls and all boys schools to offer to those students and families who find such education most beneficial for them.
One of the most common prejudices is that men and women should learn from early days how to coexist together – live, study and work together in mixed teams. However the studies show that same gender environment works better for some students and much better academic results are achieved.
Most of the schools we work with are traditional boarding schools. However, there are international schools with smaller class sizes and with more support for international students who may need it it. Rest assured that we will create an academic profile for every individual and suggest schools we find most suitable for the candidate. The student and the family will make the final decision.
