Boarding Schools in the United States
Prestige Edu Global collaborates with over 100 boarding schools in the United States. As our approach is individual we are always looking for the perfect match when it comes to school selection.
US educational system is known as flexible and that is why we recommend it to the students who are good in wide spectrum of subjects. For example, if a student is good at science but enjoys performing on stage as well, they should not give up either subject. In the US system you can be the best mathematician but also have a leading role in Performing Arts class. Over the years, depending on the number of years a student spends at US boarding school, they can discover new interests through various subjects that are being offered. You can always change your mind with course selection, which is very difficult to do when attending IB program or UK educational system.
Another reason for choosing a US boarding school is the cost. American schools are well known for generosity in terms of finances to international students as well. Some schools offer merit based scholarships, some offer financial aid only, while others may combine the two. What is important is that even if you are applying for a financial aid package, you should be a good student. We can also support students who have not accomplished good academic results and actually they are desperately in the need of the educational system where they can reach academic potential and academic grade improvement. That is our final goal with every single family – to find a school where a student can reach their full potential. That is why we say: “there is no perfect school, but we will find the perfect one for you”.

Here are most commonly asked questions by the parents whose kids want to study abroad (in high school).
For parents
When to apply? The sooner, the better. We start the application process at least one year in advance. Bear in mind that if your child is a scholarship/fin aid student, they should submit application before the end of the year when applying for the next fall. If as a parent you have big plans for your child, you can start planning as early as in the sixth grade as it gives the best results. We can help you create Educational Algorithm for the academic future of your child (children).
When is the best time to go?
A new high school chapter should ideally start in grade 10.
Many years ago Balkan students attended only year 12, final year of high school. Eventually they realised it was super late for those who would like to pursue college degree at US university.
The reason for this is: students in the US apply to colleges 1 year in advance (just as we spoke about high school applications above). If the goal is entering Ivy league universities or Little Ivies, then you should start planning minimum 2 years in advance.
If a student comes in grade 10, they would have enough time to prepare for the SAT and TOEFL exam, and develop a perfect personal statement.
If a student is an athlete, then they would have time to get to know the coach, compete in tournaments and be presented to the scouts so that they may enroll in D1 college. Usually that is the ultimate goal. This is how we see it.
For students
Grade 10 – learning a language, exploring new subjects, developing a relationship with a coach, getting familiar with the educational system.
Grade 11 – taking more classes in the field of study you want to have at University, start preparing and even taking SAT and TOEFL exam, starting to work on a personal statement, taking AP or honors classes. At this point you may also do career counselling with us so that you can decide what you want to study.
Grade 12-by this time you should be finalising your personal statement (beginning of a final grade), knowing which universities you will apply to, having SAT and TOEFL scores ready. You should be only working on technical parts of your applications, and essay questions as well. We have in our team experts for Common App so we can guide you through this process as well.
This is a scenario in ideal circumstances. In real life, we work both with students who start this early and on time and the ones who apply last minute. Another good thing about US universities is that vast majority has rolling admission which means they take students and look at their applications as long as they have available places. Bear in mind that you may not join your dream school if you start too late.
Your next step
Make an enquiry! Send us your profile details and we will give you information about the program. Should you require in depth info then we can schedule online session. We charge the 50’ consultation (one on one, student and parents with us) 50€. Afterwards you receive a plan and school suggestions based on your profile. Should you decide to apply let us know and we will send you the quote for our services.
Our goal is to create your academic profile and select a number of schools for you. You as a family will decide which schools you want to apply to. We will support you throughout the application process.
We do not complete tasks instead of a student. Instead we teach them how to do it on their own. We teach students how to write personal statements and time management skills. Should you as parents need financial aid, we can provide full support for comprehensive fin aid application.
If needed, we can help you apply for a student F1 visa. Before the departure to US, we will hold an orientation for student so he/she will be prepared for cultural shock and what is likely to happen upon arrival to USA.
Our co-owner of the company studied and lived in the USA and has a lot to say based upon personal experience. Members of our team also lived and worked in the USA or studied in the US educational system, so their knowledge can help significantly.
Last, but not least, we have three psychologists with Master’s degree who help our students and families throughout difficult times, and yes, those challenging moments are part of the experience as well.
