Switzerland is one of, if not the one country that is most desirable for high schools abroad. Number one reason is the safety.
Additionally, the country is very diverse so students while attending boarding schools in English have a great opportunity to learn other spoken languages in this country – French, German and Italian. If they do, and are at least trilingual upon high school graduation, they may obtain Swiss baccalaureate and join easily Swiss public university upon graduation. Switzerland has great climate, and students can easily access lakes and mountains.

St George Montreux
St George is currently known as #1 boarding school in Switzerland. It was established more than 90 years ago. As a student, you will be among 60 different nationalities. Such experience can enrich you as an individual and prepare you for further education abroad. That is the knowledge and experience that can not be taught in books.
The school has capacity of 380 students while 101 lives in boarding (boarding starts at the age od 11). About 160 students attend high school.
The education system is through iGCSE up to diploma program (IB). All students are bilingual in English and French. The schools is attending by 18 month old babies in nursery, throughout the year of 18. St George is considered to be a home away from home. Well trained international staff lives in boarding with the students.
Rooms are new, and refurbished as of 2023. They are like a 5* hotel and that is another reason why St George school stands out. Rooms are double and single, all en suite.

Institut Monte Rosa
Another boarding school located in Montreux, overlooking a beautiful lake Geneva, in the beautiful mansion Château d’Arvel. It is open to students age 8 to 19 years old. The focus is on individuals and developing their own personality, developing their social skills and learning to shoulder their share of responsibility in life.
The children in Monte Rosa feel safe and secure. They are guided at all times, but also feel free. The residential staff is available 24/7. They also participate in the students’ leisure-time activities. Each member of the school team helps students in educational and personal projects. The older the students are, the more freedom and independence they have.
The class size is very small numbering between 2 and 10 students.
Educational route
Monte Rosa offers different educational programs. What defers this school from other is unique IEP program (Individual Education Program). The program is designed for those students with special educational needs, hence they need the right balance between education, support and stability. This will allow them to develop socially and make good academic progress.
The school is in safe area and that is another reason why this great place for students to integrate into the school life.
Individual education program provide children with extra attention and support, so every child can achieve its goals. Classical program is following American High School program.
Students take various subjects guided and suggested by the school counsellor. Since the school is also University preparation school, students prepare for exams such as SAT and AP courses. Also language certificate courses such as Cambridge, IELTS, and French DELF examination can be taken. Special high school program is designed for students who want to study business or economics.

Monte Rosa offers numerous summer and winter camps for language learning, fun and independence. Also students can attend A la carte programs- short stay, tailor made and designed for them, and they are good taster program so the students can get a sense of what Monte Rosa school is really like.
Brillantmont International School
Another prestigious boarding school in French canton is Brillantmont. It was founded in 1882. It is well known for its superb location in Lausanne, real student city of 250.000 inhabitants.
About 80-90 students, day and boarding attend this school. They come from over 30 nationalities, which makes it very diverse and multicultural. It is open to students age 13-18 years of age.
Educational route. Students can choose UK system (GCSE followed by Alevel program) or US system with US high school diploma.
Rooms are single, double and triple, and students are separated by their sex and age. Students of Brillantmont enjoy eating their meals in school canteen together with their staff members and teachers.
Cost. 96.500 CHF (grade 10) and 103.500 CHF (grades 11, 12 and 13)
School offers summer and short term courses.
Interesting fact. The school is run by the fifth generation of the founding family, which means that school is owned and run as a family business.
Collège du Léman (CDL)
This boarding school has philosophy “Made for you” and makes sure that every student has a choice, plays to their strength and passions and develops love for learning. Students become confident, resilient, compassionate and also gain the skills to change the world for the better.
It a part of the Educational Group- North Anglia. It is based in a beautiful city of Geneva. The school offer academic excellent and as a result students enrol to TOP 100 universities in the world.
Students are age 10-18 years old with over 100 different nationalities. Also, a wide range of extracurricular activities is offered, over 100 of them.
Educational route. The school offers different choices so students can choose from International Baccalaureate, Swiss Maturité, French Baccalaureate, and American high school diploma program. Whatever program you choose, be sure you will get a well rounded education.
Boarding is home away from home. There are a few boarding houses in the vicinity of school. Boys and girls are separated. All the rooms are modern and fully equipped. Houseparents live with them and pastoral care is provided 24/7.

Besides high school program, CDL offers summer and winter camp as well. The special one is University preparation camp- Pre university camp, designed for 16-18 year old who are looking for university opportunities to study abroad.
Interesting fact. The school has special collaboration with MIT university, Juilliard school and UNICEF. MIT has focus on STEAM, Julliard on dance, and UNICEF on global challenges.
Copperfield Boarding school
If you have a strong passion for skiing then this is a perfect school for you. Copperfield is the only Ski-in, Ski-out boarding school. It is located in Verbier, prestigious ski resort town in the French Alps. The school is part of Dukes Education group.
This is a young school, open in October 2020. The capacity is around 100 students. The founder of the school is Dr Hugh McCormick. Imagine sliding straight to the classroom with your skiis on! That is everyday life in Copperfield school.
Learning in small groups on the average of 10 students per class is what describes this school best. Focus is on the individual.
Educational route. Early years of IB or iGCSE followed by IB diploma or Alevels. Th founder of this school believes that the best preparation for IB diploma is iGCSE program.
Residence is just 10 minutes away from the campus. Rooms are single and double, mostly en suite and with stunning mountain view. Chalet (boarding house) is directly on the ski slope so students have easy access to outdoor activities.
Besides high school program, Copperfield offers summer, winter and ski program.

Ecole Chantemerle Swiss
The school was founded in 1966. and admits students age 6-18 years old. It is characterised as small, personalised and efficient. Vevey, Montreux, Fribourg, Lausanne and Geneva are in the vicinity of school and it overlooks beautiful lake Geneva.
Educational route. Chantemerle proposes the Swiss academic curriculum from primary school to high school. The Swiss Matura Diploma is the only diploma that gives automatic access to Swiss universities. Hence, the investment in Swiss education pays off.
Even though boarding school fees are high, university fees are very low comparing to US and UK fees. Matura is taught in French so students must be proficient in this language. Besides Swiss maturity program, the school offers UK route through GCSE and A level.
Maximum capacity is 65 students. There are options for 5 and 7 day boarding program. Rooms have a beautiful lake view of Geneva and are mostly en suite.
Cost. Fees start at 51.500 CHF per year, and on average are 55.000 CHF.
Interesting fact. For those students who want to become engineers and study at Laussane or Zurich, school offers EPFL advanced preparation (program focused on math and physics).

College Champittet
Champittet day and boarding school says that its education provides passport to a bright future. This boutique style school is located 2 minutes away from Lake Geneva and is part of North Anglia Education group. It is in the vicinity of Lausanne and 1 hour from the mountains.
Champitte was founded in 1903. With the capacity of 700 students with over 50 nationalities, 90 students live in boarding. There is one important rule that in school can not be more than 10% of the same nationality. 40% of students are Swiss and 60% are international.
Educational route. There are 3 programs offered- Swiss maturity, French Bac and IB (most popular program among students). 60% of boarders attend this, IB program. Over 60% of graduates attend afterwards Swiss university.
Boarding. Students age 11-18 years old live in boarding. They live in Lausanne campus, nestled on the shore of lake Geneva. There is 24/7 care and supervision of students. Boys and girls are on separate floors.
Rooms are comfortable, modern and shared usually among two students of different nationalities. Extraordinary evening and weekend activities are organised by the school.

Interesting fact. Learning is enriched by collaborations with world-leading organisations, too, including The Juilliard School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and UNICEF.
“Kings School” Le Rosey
This is well known, one of a kind elite boarding school in Switzerland. School was established in 1880. It has two campuses.
During the Fall and Spring, students live on main campus Le Rosey. The campus spreads over 75 acres of land, and 30 acres are under the trees. During the winter they move in the mountains to Gstaad.
Students age of 8-18 attend this school. School has around 150 teachers for 420 students. All the teachers and staff member live on campus with their families together with all students. Teachers come from 30 different countries. Small class sizes have maximum 10 students. On average, class size is 4-5 students.
Educational route. Students are offered French baccalaureate and IB program. Before the IB program, students are offered iGCSE program before they enter a Diploma Program.
Boarding. Rooms are spacious and usually shared among students, depending on the age. There are some single rooms for older students.
Due to a selection process and high demand, it is highly advisable to apply very early to enrol to Le Rosey. Students can be put on a waiting list, and also denied. As an alternative, they can be offered place is a sister school with same values – Le Regent.
First round of application is completed by November 15th and second one by January 31st.

Besides high school programs, Le Rosey offers summer camp programs as well. Community service and volunteering play a big role in education of le Rosey students.
Interesting fact. Every student, 100% of them, lives on campus. Girls and boys have separate campuses, 500m away from one another.
